We’re Natasha and Megan,
co-founders of ChaLuMu.
We’re two mums, two life-long friends, two women with ADHD, anxious brains and a tendency to overthink absolutely everything. Between us, life has thrown quite a lot our way. Trauma, grief, single parenthood, loss, anxiety, ADHD and more than a few moments where life went completely off-script.
We both use breathing necklaces ourselves, so we already knew how useful they could be when anxiety takes over. But neither of us is particularly minimalist when it comes to jewellery.
We like leopard print. We like cherries, hearts, sparkle and pieces with a bit of personality. And when we looked at the anxiety jewellery already out there, we realised there wasn’t much for women like us. We wanted the function, but we wanted the choice too. Why should anxiety jewellery only come in one style?
So we created ChaLuMu.
What started as a small idea has grown into something much bigger than either of us expected, but behind the scenes, ChaLuMu is still very much a family affair. The models you see across our website and socials are Megan’s daughters, and our families have been part of the journey from the beginning.
And even as ChaLuMu grows, we still make every one of our designed pieces ourselves. Each one is put together by hand, which means no two will ever be completely identical. There may be tiny differences from one piece to the next, and we love that. Every necklace has been made by one of us, for the person who’s going to wear it.
Our jewellery is designed for those moments when your brain gets stuck in an anxious loop and you need something else to focus on. Our breathing necklaces give you a physical point of focus and encourage you to focus on your breathing, while other designs include charms or movable elements that give restless hands something to do.
We wanted to create anxiety jewellery with personality. Pieces that can be bold, playful, elegant, quirky or a little unexpected, because the women who wear ChaLuMu aren’t all the same either. They’re mums, daughters, friends, businesswomen, overthinkers, maximalists, introverts, extroverts and women whose brains have approximately 47 tabs open at any given moment.
Some love leopard print. Some will always choose the cherries. Some want something simpler.
We believe anxiety relief jewellery should come in more than one style.
